A sweeping joint operation between the FBI and dozens of Texas law enforcement agencies has resulted in the rescue of 89 children and the arrest of more than 276 suspected child predators in what officials are calling one of the largest child exploitation crackdowns in recent memory.
The operation, known as Operation Soteria Shield, was conducted throughout March and April as part of the FBI’s nationwide Operation Iron Pursuit initiative targeting child sexual exploitation networks.
Federal authorities said the effort focused on individuals involved in the online exploitation, trafficking, abuse, and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) across North Texas.
Kash Patel: “This Pace of Justice Will Not Slow Down”
FBI Director Kash Patel praised the operation’s results and vowed that the bureau’s aggressive pursuit of child predators would continue.
“Every single day, this FBI is moving more aggressively than ever before to destroy child predator networks and save innocent victims all over the country, and today’s brilliant numbers out of FBI Dallas and partners are the latest milestone in that righteous mission,” Patel said.
The operation involved 91 law enforcement agencies across Texas and targeted offenders using social media platforms, messaging applications, online forums, and other digital tools to exploit children.
Patel emphasized that the operation was about more than arrests.
“These are young lives saved, families reunited, and future crimes prevented by brave law enforcement doing their jobs,” he said.
Hundreds of Suspects Arrested
According to authorities, Operation Soteria Shield led to:
- 276 arrests of suspected child exploitation offenders
- 89 children rescued from dangerous situations
- Numerous investigations into online exploitation networks
Law enforcement officials said the operation focused on identifying both offenders and victims, with investigators working to locate children who may have been subjected to abuse, trafficking, or exploitation.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux praised the collaborative effort between federal, state, and local authorities.
“Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is among the most important work we do in law enforcement,” Comeaux said.
Nationwide Crackdown Continues
The Texas operation comes just weeks after the FBI announced another major success under Operation Iron Pursuit.
Earlier this month, federal authorities revealed that more than 350 child sexual abuse offenders had been arrested nationwide during a coordinated effort to identify child predators and rescue victims.
Patel highlighted the broader scope of the FBI’s ongoing campaign against child exploitation networks.
“This FBI has located more than 6,940 child victims since last year — up 144% — and arrested almost 3,000 child predators over the same time period, up 70%,” Patel said.
“This pace of justice we’re on will not slow down.”
The operation represents part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to prioritize crimes against children, with federal agencies increasingly directing resources toward dismantling online predator networks and identifying victims before further abuse can occur.
Authorities indicated that additional arrests are possible as investigations stemming from Operation Soteria Shield continue.
