In a disturbing breach of presidential security, a man has been arrested by Secret Service after he was caught trying to break into President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
A 23-year-old man was detained early Tuesday morning after allegedly attempting to scale a fence at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.
The suspect told Secret Service agents that his bizarre goal was to “spread the gospel” to President Trump and “marry” his teenage granddaughter.
Anthony Thomas Reyes, already known to law enforcement for a previous trespassing incident at the same location, was detained by the Secret Service and taken into custody by the Palm Beach Police Department.
His actions triggered alarm systems on the property shortly after midnight.
“An adult male was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Palm Beach Police Department for unlawfully entering the Mar-a-Lago Club property in Florida,” the U.S. Secret Service confirmed in a statement.
“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene.
“Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing.”
This was not Reyes’s first attempt to illegally access the Trump estate.
Just months ago, he was warned by police after attempting to enter the property on New Year’s Eve.
At the time, President Trump was reportedly present.
According to the Palm Beach Daily News, Reyes told officers at that time as well that he intended to meet the president.
His latest arrest report claims Reyes openly admitted to officers that he wanted to “marry” the president’s granddaughter, Kai Trump.
Law enforcement authorities are still investigating the mental state and motivations of the suspect.
Reyes was initially charged with trespassing and held on a $1,000 bond, but that figure has since been raised to $50,000, with potential federal charges pending as the investigation unfolds.
Fortunately, President Trump was not at the property at the time of the attempted breach.
He was in Washington, D.C., on official business.
The incident has once again raised questions about presidential security, especially during a time when President Trump remains a high-profile target for political and personal threats.
Critics say the attempted breach reinforces the need for hardened security protocols at Mar-a-Lago and similar locations.
With Reyes having already targeted the resort once before, questions are mounting about how seriously such repeat threats are being taken and whether mental health, ideology, or deeper motivations are at play.
In an era of increasing threats to public figures, the fact that a man with prior warnings was able to again attempt entry into a sitting president’s residence should be seen as a serious failure of deterrence.
While no one was hurt, the nature of Reyes’s delusions — involving both religion and the president’s teenage granddaughter — is deeply troubling.
