President Donald Trump has announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), escalating his long-running conflict with the Somalia-born Minnesota Democrat.

Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social, writing that “the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars.

“Time will tell all.”

The statement marks the latest attack from Trump against Omar, whom he has repeatedly criticized over the years.

The president has previously suggested Omar should face legal consequences or be deported to Somalia, where she was born, despite her having been a U.S. citizen since 2000.

Trump has also linked Omar to broader fraud investigations in Minnesota, accusing her of being “one of many scammers,” though no public evidence has connected her directly to those cases.

The renewed clash comes as federal immigration enforcement has intensified in Minneapolis, which Omar represents in Congress, further inflaming an already volatile political environment.

Omar responded on social media Monday, dismissing Trump’s claims and accusing him of deflection.

“Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing and you’re panicking,” she wrote on X.

“Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me.

“Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing.

“Get your goons out of Minnesota.”

Scrutiny of Omar’s finances has intensified in recent weeks following disclosures showing a sharp increase in her reported net worth.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) told the New York Post that his panel plans to examine what drove the increase.

According to financial disclosure forms filed last year, the reported jump was largely attributed to assets held by Omar’s spouse, not her congressional salary.

The disclosures indicate her spouse holds stakes collectively valued between $6 million and $30 million in a venture capital firm and a winery.

Under federal disclosure rules, members of Congress and their spouses report assets and income in broad value ranges rather than precise figures.

Omar has denied any wrongdoing and has previously accused Trump of having a “creepy” obsession with her.

Trump also announced Monday that he is sending border czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis to oversee immigration enforcement operations.

The announcement follows a wave of protests in the city after two recent fatal encounters involving federal officers.

Demonstrations erupted after the January 7 shooting death of Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer and the death of Alex Pretti during a scuffle with Border Patrol agents over the weekend.

Both incidents remain under investigation as tensions continue to rise across the Twin Cities.
