Massachusetts House Passes Bill for Unlimited Late-Term Abortions

The Massachusetts House of Representatives, dominated by pro-abortion Democrats by a 5-1 margin, passed a wide-open, abortion until birth bill yesterday on a vote of 119-33. State House Speaker Ronald J. Mariano’s office said in a statement that the measure now heads to the state Senate.

According to Massachusetts Citizens for Life,

“H.5595 would eliminate Massachusetts’ current 24-week limit on abortion and allow abortions later in pregnancy based on the undefined standard of a physician’s ‘professional judgment.’ The bill would

Remove the 24-week limit on abortion, allowing procedures later in pregnancy.

Replace clear legal safeguards with vague standards based on subjective “professional judgment.”

Eliminate meaningful limitations and accountability for late-term abortions.

Expand abortion access at a stage when unborn children are capable of feeling pain and surviving outside the womb.

Following House passage, MCFL President Myrna Maloney Flynn said

“As written, their abortion-up-to-birth bill permits one physician to subjectively decide that any unborn infant can be killed in or outside of a hospital, even babies capable of surviving outside the womb and feeling pain within it. Women experiencing unimaginable, heart wrenching pregnancy complications absolutely deserve all the support they need, but that support is not what this bill provides. Instead, this bill ensures increased abortion industry profits and taxpayer-funded late-term procedures. The legislation promises that an already ominous shadow will grow even darker over the state of Massachusetts.”

Of course, media account wrote as if eliminating all limitations is (a) “trusting medical professionals”; (b) merely “loosen restrictions on abortion after 24 weeks”; “ease[s] Massachusetts’ late-term abortion restrictions”; “expands abortion access after 24 weeks”; and so forth and so on.

In his euphemism filled story, Liesel Nygard, reporting for Mass Live was positively giddy:

Massachusetts residents seeking reproductive care later in pregnancy may no longer need to travel out of state under a bill passed Wednesday by the state House of Representatives.

The legislation updates state laws allowing licensed physicians to determine when an abortion after 24 weeks is medically necessary, without being restricted to specific legal categories.

What can you say other than the obvious. For Democrats–the Party of Abortion–there are never enough dead babies.
