Twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris accused President Donald Trump’s administration of unprecedented corruption and incompetence.
Harris lashed out at Trump while campaigning for Wisconsin Democrat gubernatorial nominee David Crowley.
The former vice president called the White House the “most callous and corrupt and incompetent” presidential administration in American history.
She twice accused the Trump administration of pursuing an agenda of “brutality” against Americans.
Harris did not provide any evidence to support such allegations, however.
Despite the sweeping attacks, Harris never mentioned Trump by name.
Instead, she contrasted Crowley with an unnamed leader she portrayed as self-absorbed and intent on tearing people down.
“We in this room, I know, understand that the measure of the strength of the leader is based on who you lift up, not who you beat down,” Harris said.
“Unlike some other people who are constantly looking in the mirror, David is looking at the people.
“That’s the kind of leader we want.”
Harris Revisits 2020 Election
Harris directed her more specific criticism at Crowley’s Republican opponent, Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI), targeting his support for Trump’s efforts to challenge the 2020 election result.
“Let’s talk about the fact that David’s opponent denied the election of 2020,” Harris said.
“By the way, we won.
“Yes, you can call me former madam Vice President.
“We won that election.”
She then framed the midterms as a fight over whether Americans would retain their democratic power while incorrectly framing the republic as a “democracy.”
“We are now in the phase of the moment in our democracy, while we can still hold on to it, where the people’s voice reigns, where the will of the people reigns, where the power of the people is demonstrated by what we do to organize,” Harris continued.
Her remarks paired familiar warnings about democracy with sweeping denunciations of the administration, making opposition to Trump a central feature of her pitch for Wisconsin Democrats.
Tiffany Targets Crowley’s Ties to Harris
Crowley embraced his relationship with Harris earlier Monday, calling her a “huge mentor” and saying his wife loves her.
Tiffany quickly seized on that connection.
In a social media post, he accused Crowley of sharing Harris’ support for higher taxes, taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants, and Green New Deal policies that Tiffany argued would raise energy costs.
The exchange established competing campaign messages: Harris attacked the administration’s character, while Tiffany tied Crowley to a policy agenda he said would cost Wisconsin residents more.
Campaign Tour Fuels 2028 Speculation
Harris has increased her campaign appearances in presidential battleground states as Democrats approach the midterms.
Her stops have included events with Nevada gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, and Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH), who is running for Senate.
The appearances have fueled speculation that Harris is preparing another presidential campaign in 2028.
She has not announced a decision.
During a September event with NAACP leaders in Detroit, Harris placed the midterms ahead of that question.
“I do sincerely believe ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through ’26,” Harris said.
For now, her campaign role centers on helping Democrats win in November, with increasingly harsh attacks on the administration and warnings that the country’s political future depends on the outcome.
