OpenAI, a tech company that has worked closely with the Trump administration on various AI initiatives, will soon be turning to personalized porn. However, the gambit will surely have a detrimental effect on young men.
CEO Sam Altman announced Tuesday that the company’s AI model, the ever-popular ChatGPT, will soon have a feature allowing “verified” adults to create AI “erotica.” I.e., porn.
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Why of course! When your company is burning through cash and its valuation is a bubble the size of the state of Texas, why not introduce AI porn? What do they have to lose at this point?
This is great news if you are a porn-addicted adult, or if you are a horny teenager with enough smarts to dodge the age verification process. And I’m not sure what that process will look like and how it will work. But I seriously doubt it will take the form of some impenetrable digital fortress that not even the most savvy hackers in the world can access.
Like the dawn of social media in the early 2010s, an era marked by utopian delusions about humanity and how we would use apps like Facebook and Instagram to connect with people, AI seems to be going down a similar path. Yes, the tech moguls pitched social media as technology that would bring us closer together. But all that optimism has gone out the door. Social media has done the opposite. It has left us lonely, depressed, and disconnected from our reality.
AI will be no different. It was pitched as some tool that would liberate human beings from drudgery and make us all more knowledgeable. I’m not so sure about that. If anything, it will only make everyone dumber, illiterate, perhaps unemployed, and, for some, enslaved to their worst instincts, such as a desire to __fill in the bank__ to a digital porn girl on a screen.
Dystopian stuff. I expect nothing less from a character like Sam Altman.
