Since the outbreak of the war, several Western media portals have reported that Serbian military companies are supporting the Ukrainian military through intermediaries.

The SVR – Russia’s foreign intelligence service – has accused Serbia of supplying its military-industrial companies with ammunition to Ukraine, even though Belgrade is officially neutral, based on a report by Ukrainska Pravda

Since 2022, Serbian companies have sold hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and millions of rounds of small arms ammunition to Ukraine through intermediary countries.

Serbia had initially denied that its arms factories were producing ammunition for Ukraine. President Aleksandar Vucic later said he would not prohibit these private companies from selling ammunition to countries that might pass it on to Ukraine.

Earlier this year, Vučić apologized for voting for the UN resolution on Ukraine proposed by the Europeans, saying Serbia should have abstained.

The UN General Assembly had voted in February on two rival draft resolutions. The European-sponsored one condemned Russia, saying its three-year invasion of Ukraine threatened global stability, while a U.S.-sponsored resolution did not call Russia an aggressor or recognize Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

“It is clear where the policy of the United States of America is heading and how it is progressing. Tectonic changes are taking place in the world that we cannot even comprehend,” the Serbian president said. “I do not believe that we should please any great power, neither the Russians, nor the Americans, nor anyone else,” Vučić said.

“As far as the American resolution is concerned, we voted exactly as it should have been. We abstained. We should have abstained, in my opinion, from the European resolution as well. As you can see, I am saying this at a time when it is quite clear that I will lose favor or political points in the EU because of this. I believe that Serbia had to abstain,” he added
