As the incoming head of the new president’s cabinet, Paweł Szefernaker, head of Karol Nawrocki’s election campaign, is taking a strong stand against anyone who tries to take Nawrocki’s victory away. Currently, there are efforts to move ahead with a recount, which many Polish conservatives believe the left it partaking in election denialism and conspiracy theories to invalidate the election.
“They illegally took away funds for the #Nawrocki2025 campaign and attacked every day using the entire state apparatus. Despite this, thanks to the votes of millions of Poles, Karol Nawrocki won the election by a landslide,” he wrote on social media, as cited by wPolityce.
“We will not allow frustrated politicians to heal their complexes to destroy the state and undermine the will of the Nation! We will fight! Until the end!”
President Andrzej Duda also posted on X in response to Prime Minister Donald Tusk promising to review all votes, stating that “someone clearly does not like the choice made by Poles recently.”
“Prime Minister Tusk thundered today at a government meeting that even a single voice cannot be disregarded,’” he wrote, cautioning Poles to be wary.
“I advise you – take good care of your votes cast in the elections! Today, a really serious team is taking on the choice you have made. I assure you that as a voter, and currently additionally still a guardian of the continuity of state power, I will watch together with you.”
Claiming that Donald Tusk and his party have become paranoid, electoral law expert Prof. Jarosław Flis stated that the idea of recounting all votes is unfounded.
“In my opinion, this is complete paranoia. If someone demands this, they do not realize what it would mean. This is the involvement of hundreds of thousands of people, who would have to be paid hundreds of millions of złoty in total. An army of people who had been prepared for this for many months were responsible for conducting the elections. These people believed that their work made sense, so bringing them in now to recount over 20 million votes would be the work of a fool,” he told Wirtualna Polska.
PM Tusk made his own appeal on X earlier this month, calling for calm while also trumpeting positive news for the Polish economy, namely, inflation dropping to 4 percent and double-digit wage growth.
“Every reported case of irregularities in vote counting is checked and analyzed. Possible frauds are investigated and will be punished. Protests will go to the Supreme Court. I understand the emotions, but assuming in advance that the elections were rigged does not serve the Polish state,” he wrote.
