‘The camp of national treason’ – With Polish pre…

Polish MEP Grzegorz Braun is known for making headlines — including for putting out Chanukah candles with a fire extinguisher, burning the EU flag, and holding an abortion doctor hostage for an hour — but a lot of Poles seem to love him. In fact, he exceeded all expectations during the first round of the presidential election, scoring 6.34 percent of the vote.

Now, he is backing Karol Nawrocki in the second round against Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, saying that Trzaskowski is the candidate of the “united left.”

“Green, rainbow, the candidate of the Euro-federalists and deviants, the candidate of the camp of open national treason,” said MEP Braun.

Braun’s voters will matter, as the majority of polls have the race in a dead heat, with the vote on June 1 just four days away. Braun came in fourth place, with the Confederation party’s Sławomir Mentzen coming in third with 14.8 percent of the vote. Most voters from both of these parties are expected to swing their support behind Nawrocki.

As Remix News previously reported, Braun put forward a questionnaire for all candidates to answer, which he said he would use to assess who he would support. Nawrocki’s team, unlike Trzaskowski’s team, sent answers to questions asked by Braun.

During the press conference on the second round broadcast on the YouTube channel of Braun’s party, the Confederation of the Polish Crown, Braun admitted that it might have been better that Trzaskowski did not respond to his demands because the Civic Platform (KO) candidate’s answers would have to be extremely convoluted.

He also did not spare words of criticism towards the political camp that put forward the candidacy of Nawrocki – who is not a member of the party.

“We remember too well from our own experience the rule of the United False Right. We remember the Covid terror, we remember the destruction of literally, not only figuratively, human life, health, and also the property of Poles because it was not only excess deaths but also businesses liquidated, companies, economic activities closed by hundreds of thousands — a hecatomb. A Hecatomb of Polishness in all dimensions under the pretext of fighting the alleged pandemic,” Braun said.

Braun also pointed to the repressive methods used by PiS against those who did not agree to the policy of restrictions introduced under the pretext of Covid.

Braun is also pushing for Nawrocki to take part in the exhumation of graves in Jedwabne, where Poles were accused of murdering Jews during the Second World War. Braun and many others in Poland argue that Poles were actually killed along with Jews at the mass grave and that an exhumation will clear what he says are false allegations against Poland.

“I address my advice to the staff and candidate Karol Nawrocki himself. You, Mr. President of the Institute of National Remembrance, if I count correctly, have 60-something hours, not more, 70-something hours more, to go to Jedwabne and drive the first spade into the ground there. You have 70-something hours to resume the exhumation in Jedwabne,” he said. “Of course, then hell will break loose. Hell will break loose, but the Polish nation will be with you.”

Braun said that if Poland fails to push the truth about the crime in Jedwabne on the international stage, it will have a very negative impact on Poland.

“If this exhumation is not resumed, the image of Poles as descendants of Jewish murderers and robbers will be perpetuated. Then Jewish claims and demands against the Polish nation will be enforced. This will therefore be a critically important and mortally dangerous omission for the Polish nation,” he said.
