Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has deleted a social media post that provides evidence indicating that she married her biological brother.
In the old X post, Omar identifies her father as Nur Said, according to the New York Post.
The post draws renewed attention to allegations involving her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
The 2013 Father’s Day message resurfaced amid a federal criminal investigation into Omar and a dispute over the Justice Department’s identification of her as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.
“Happy Father’s Day to my aabo Nur Said, I am forever grateful to Allah for giving me the best father,” Omar wrote in the deleted post, according to the newspaper.
The Somali word aabo means father.
The shared names have fueled scrutiny as Omar is under federal investigation for immigration fraud.
Omar has now explained why she deleted the old post.

Deleted Post Puts Family Names Under Scrutiny
Omar married Elmi in 2009.
Elmi is believed to be Omar’s brother, and the marriage was intended to obtain a green card for him.
Omar has denied the allegation.
When asked directly whether she had married her brother, she answered, “Not to my knowledge.”
Federal investigators have identified Omar’s birth name as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, according to the reporting.
Prosecutors have asserted that Omar is “not her real name.”
Omar insists that the government’s identification is wrong.
“Ilhan Abdullahi Omar, you know it,” Omar told Fox News Digital on Friday before heading into prayers.
She also attacked President Donald Trump and the Justice Department on social media.
The congresswoman tried to argue that the federal investigation, which began under the Biden administration, is based on “right-wing conspiracy theories.”
“The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history,” Omar wrote.
“Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine.
“So let’s make it crystal clear,” she added.
“My name has always been Ilhan Omar.”
Those personal attacks accompanied her denial but supplied no evidence supporting her accusations of corruption against the department.
Federal Search Leads to Fight Over Seized Property
Federal investigators searched Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence as part of the ongoing criminal investigation, leaving hours later with 17 personal items, including her phone.
Her attorneys subsequently demanded that the Justice Department return the property.
Department spokesperson Emily Covington defended the conduct of investigators and prosecutors.
“Our attorneys and law enforcement partners complied with all court orders and legal obligations, as they always do,” Covington said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The allegations involving Omar’s identity and former marriage have not been proven in court.
Omar Plans to Leave Washington Home
Omar announced Wednesday that she intended to move out of her Washington residence, saying the search and publicity surrounding her address had left her feeling unsafe.
“Obviously, I can’t continue to live there,” Omar said in an interview.
“So, we have to figure out where to move to because our address has been public, and with the death threats that I deal with, it’s no longer going to be feasible to be in that house and have my kids visiting off and on, having people track them.”
She maintained that she had committed no wrongdoing.
“I’m confident in my truth,” Omar said.
“I’m confident in the fact that I didn’t do anything wrong.”
The deleted post adds another document to the public dispute over Omar’s family history.
Establishing whether any immigration fraud occurred, however, depends on evidence beyond overlapping names, evidence federal investigators are continuing to examine.
