President Donald Trump revealed the U.S. military used a secret weapon he calls “The Discombobulator” during the January raid that captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Trump made the disclosure in an interview with the New York Post from the Oval Office. He said the weapon disabled enemy equipment during the Jan. 3 operation in Caracas.

“The Discombobulator. I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Trump told the outlet. The president said Venezuelan forces armed with Russian and Chinese rockets failed to mount any defense.

“They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off. We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us,” Trump said.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared to acknowledge the weapon’s use on Jan. 10 when she shared an eyewitness account on social media. The account came from an unnamed Venezuelan guard who claimed to have witnessed the attack.

The guard described radar systems suddenly shutting down before drones and roughly eight helicopters carrying about 20 U.S. soldiers arrived at the military base. He said American forces then deployed something he could not identify.

“It was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside,” the guard said in the account Leavitt shared. “We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move.”

Trump previously confirmed the weapon’s existence during an interview, Mediaite reported. He told host Katie Pavlich that “nobody else has it.”

The disclosure came amid reports that the Biden administration purchased a pulsed energy device in its final weeks for an eight-figure sum, according to CNN. The Pentagon has tested the backpack-sized device for over a year. Some investigators believe it may be linked to “Havana Syndrome.”

Maduro is currently detained at a federal facility in Brooklyn as he faces drug trafficking and terrorism-related charges, the Post reported. Trump said he has developed a strong relationship with Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez.

“We have a great relationship with the new president,” Trump said. “She’s been terrific.”
