Colorado prosecutors have escalated charges against the suspect in the Boulder terror attack after the death of 82-year-old victim Karen Diamond.

Diamond has just succumbed to severe injuries inflicted during a June 1st Molotov cocktail assault targeting a Jewish peace rally.

Described as a pillar of Boulder’s Jewish community, Diamond, one of eight people injured in the firebombing.

She died over the weekend, according to court filings made public Monday by the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office.

Democrat Gov. Jared Polis is calling the attack “devastating.”

In a statement, Polis said:

“This loss is deeply felt by the Boulder community and our entire state, particularly within our strong Jewish community.”

Diamond’s death further elevates concerns over the escalating violence fueled by anti-Semitic rhetoric and radical political ideology.

The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, now faces upgraded charges including murder and 12 federal hate crimes.

Prosecutors say he launched a premeditated attack on the weekly pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder’s Pearl Street pedestrian mall.

Witnesses said he was yelling “Free Palestine” as he hurled incendiary devices at civilians.

Investigators say Soliman had stockpiled more than two dozen Molotov cocktails but deployed only two before he was subdued.

The homemade bombs injured multiple attendees, including Diamond, who sustained burns so severe that she ultimately could not recover.

Soliman allegedly confessed to targeting the gathering due to the participants’ Jewish identity and support for Israel.

He told investigators he intended to kill approximately 20 people that day and had tried unsuccessfully to acquire a firearm before resorting to firebombs.

Critics are raising new questions about Soliman’s immigration status, after law enforcement revealed he admitted to being unable to purchase a firearm because he is an illegal alien.

The case is drawing renewed scrutiny of President Donald Trump’s calls for stronger border enforcement and reform of lax immigration loopholes that allow potential threats to remain inside the country.

The suspect has pleaded not guilty through his attorney, who declined to comment.

He is currently facing parallel charges in both state and federal court, including attempted murder.

The Biden-era rise in anti-Semitic attacks, many tied to escalating tensions in the Middle East, has led to increased concern over domestic radicalization.

Critics blame the selective enforcement by Biden’s weaponsized Department of Justice.

Republican lawmakers have repeatedly pressed for tougher action on hate crimes and stronger vetting of foreign nationals.

Diamond’s death now casts a grim new shadow over a case that many say should have been national news from day one.
