“Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America,” Newsom’s press office wrote with no further details.
Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom (Calif.) landed in hot water Saturday after an ill–thought-out social media post appearing to threaten Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
“Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America,” Newsom’s official press office wrote on X Saturday morning, offering no further details.

You’re welcome, America.
The post rankled many online still reeling from the political assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Whoever approved this post needs to be fired. Not just because this reads as a threat, but because they are way too stupid for any comms team.

Newsom’s post caught the attention of Acting U.S. Attorney General Bill Essayli, who forwarded the post to the U.S. Secret Service for investigation.
“We have zero tolerance for direct or implicit threats against government officials. I’ve referred this matter to @SecretService and requested a full threat assessment,” Essayli responded on X.

Three hours later, Newsom’s office posted an update showing Newsom planned to pass “a historic legislation package to protect immigrant communities, hold Trump accountable.”
The initial threatening post came as Noem on Friday announced DHS would begin canceling Temporary Protected Status designations for immigrants from Syria.
