‘Nothing is okay’ on Polish borders, says Polish…

Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak (Confederation) criticized the government’s handling of border controls in parliament. 

“The so-called reintroduction of border controls is incomplete and will be ineffective. Unfortunately, Poland is not prepared in terms of personnel to defend its borders or address the escalating migration crisis. The disproportion between the number of officers on the German and Polish sides is between several thousand and several hundred,” he told members of the Sejm, according to Do Rzeczy.

Bosak noted that border controls are highly random, quoting one border guard: “A random check is no check at all.”

Poland, he reminded those present, does not have readmission agreements with many of the countries from which migrants are sent. “Either Poland starts taking border controls seriously, including its eastern borders, through which immigration continues to enter Poland, or the problem of illegal immigration in Poland will intensify,” the leader of the National Movement emphasized.

The deputy marshal emphasized that, unfortunately, NGOs still operate on the border with Belarus, aiding smugglers and immigrants, while border controls with the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Lithuania have not been sufficiently monitored to date. The Polish-Ukrainian border is also excessively open. 

“What the government is talking about, namely returning them to their countries of origin, is also not fully effective,” he added, citing interventions at Border Guard stations, which provided such information.

“The only remedy for this situation is to start taking our borders seriously. This doesn’t have to mean hindering border traffic for EU citizens, but it does mean controls on green borders, controls on the movement of foreigners from outside the EU, which are rigorous enough to discourage people from using Poland as a route for illegal immigration,” he said.

“We are currently dealing with an operation – to some extent social engineering – to create the impression that everything is okay, while nothing is okay,” Bosak added.

On July 19, anti-immigration pickets organized by the Confederation will take place in cities across Poland.

Confederation politicians are encouraging people to participate in demonstrations to express their opposition to the admission of immigrants from Muslim, African, and other culturally alien regions into Poland, who are being expelled to neighboring countries, including Poland, by German intelligence services. The event was marked with the hashtag “We want to live safely.”

According to the Confederation, the Polish side should always demand from the German side clear documentation that a given migrant is being “returned” because he was previously in Poland, and not rely on the principle of trust in the German side.
