Hungarian animation talent out in force at Frenc…

There has been some major news for Hungarian filmmakers at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France, Magyar Nemzet writes. 

Hungarians were almost at every program. Multiple Annecy Award winner Áron Gauder held a master class, and his film “The Four Souls of the Coyote” was shown on a giant outdoor screen.

Key players in Hungarian animation presented the full scope of the industry at the forum titled Production Power, Global Vision: Futureproofing Hungarian Animation. Gergely Kalocsay, head of legal support for the National Film Institute, presented as did executive producer Réka Temple, of Cinemon Entertainment.

Alex Rabb, founder and CEO of Digic studio, pointed out that the largest international producers consider Hungarians to be reliable partners in connection with foreign productions. Zsuzsanna Vincze, director of the MOME Film Knowledge Center, spoke about the role of domestic higher education, while Anna Osvay, sales manager of Kedd Animation Studio, summarized recent international festival and commercial successes.

The European Animation Producers Association announced in Annecy that the Hungarian Animation Producers Association has joined it, which now includes organizations from 27 countries, and Réka Temple was elected as a member of the board. 

Netflix also announced that Hungarian studio Digic will produce the long-awaited animated series based on the world-famous game “Magic: The Gathering.”

The series will be produced by showrunner Terry Matalas in collaboration with Hasbro Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast.
